Woman Warrior on Wednesday: DR. STELLA AMEYO ADADEVOH

  • Comes from a lineage of patriotic nation builders. Her grand father,Sir Herbert Macaulay whose image appears on the Nigerian 1 Naira coin was a prominent politician and founding father of Nigerian nationalism who established the Nation’s first political party.

  • She was the first to alert the Nigeria Ministry of health when the influenza virus sub-type spread to Nigeria in 2012.

  • A patriotic woman who prevented a national catastrophe. She diagnosed Liberian National as Nigerian’s first case of Ebola in 2014 and paid the ultimate price when she quarantined the patient and personally took charge of situation.

  • Her relentless effort brought about the creation of the Ebola Emergency Operations Center by Nigerian Ministry of Health in Cctober 2014.

  • Dr. Adedevoh also left a great legacy. Her son, Bankole Cardoso, a Nigerian entrepreneur, co- founded Easy Taxi Nigeria in 2013 to ease movement within the city of L agos. Bankole was listed by Forbes as one of the 30 most promising young entrepreneurs in Africa.
