WHAT is she-eo?

She-EO is a safe platform for women of African descent to have important conversations that matter. Primarily using experience sharing (a powerful learning strategy), She-EO empowers its audience to build resilience, and surmount obstacles to personal growth and community development.  In addition to curating powerful conversations, She-EO is building a strong network of women of African descent who impact Africa positively.

By safely convening and discussing “taboo topics” that make many women “abandon the arena” and instead settle for ordinary lives, we provide the space for middle class, college (university) educated women to see themselves differently, and to respond to adversity differently -- as changemakers.

Also, by hosting these difficult conversations and helping women in the middle class expand their network, we increase the number of leaders who help others become changemakers. We also empower local communities through organizing, particularly those from vulnerable populations – youth and women from social disadvantaged backgrounds.

Our Mission

To develop, implement and facilitate effective personal growth, community development, and leadership opportunities for women of African descent

How it all started

It all began with a day dream in a classroom at the University of Oxford in 2014. While waiting for a session to begin, Tope Fajingbesi began imagining how powerful and impactful a similarly purposeful gathering of women of African descent would be. The ideas began to flow, and she eagerly scribbled them down! She dreamed about creating a safe platform to break barriers and speak truthfully about obstacles that keep women from thriving. The ideas were great, however, execution wouldn’t happen until the first She-EO on August 19th, 2017. But once the train left the station on that beautiful Fall day in August, there was no stopping the movement. A global mission was born!

She-EO is the flagship program of Impact Africa Inc., a tax-exempt nonprofit organization (Section 501c3) registered in the State of Maryland, USA.
